Irise Dance Project Policies and Information

  • Irise Dance Project uses a system called Studio Pro. Through this online system, you will have a parent portal which will give you access to all important studio information, registration, and billing. Our family and community engagement coordinator will walk you through this process when you decide to join the studio.

  • Tuition is due on the 1st of each month from September through June.

  • Proper dance attire must be worn at all times. Students' hair must be neat and in place, pulled back off their face and neck. No jewelry (except for small earrings) is to be worn to class or rehearsals. The appropriate dance shoes must be worn in class. Ballet and Jazz cannot be executed properly in bare feet or tights. Warm-ups may be worn during barre/warm-up at the teacher's discretion. In order to make accurate technical corrections, the teacher must be able to view the student clearly without the obstruction of extra garments. Irise receives donations of all dance attire yearly. Enrolled students are welcome to take available dance attire free of charge.

  • Irise Dance Project follows the Lawrence Public School schedule and remains closed for public holidays, winter, February, and April vacation. If Irise cancels due to teacher absence and/or a snow day, a makeup class will be offered to students.

Parents will be notified of cancelations via email and text.

  • Refunds are not given for missed classes, and tuition applies regardless of absence. A student can make up a missed class by taking another similar class that is appropriate for their age and level. Attendance is important for the student and their classmates to optimize their learning. Dress rehearsal and attendance during the week leading up to the showcase are mandatory, so please ensure students are present.

If a student is going to be absent then the director must be notified through our online portal.

  • The Annual Showcase takes place every June. Students begin working on the Showcase in March during their weekly scheduled classes. It is a large-scale performance and a great opportunity for our youth to perform and share the skills they have developed over the year. It builds confidence, team building skills, discipline, and joy in our youth.

A one-time costume fee of $70 per class will be applied to your tuition fee for the month of March. This will cover the costume for the end-of-year showcase.

  • If a student wishes to withdraw from the studio, the owners must be notified, and an additional one-month tuition plus any outstanding balances will be due upon withdrawal. If irise Dance Project is not notified of a student's withdrawal, you will be responsible for the remainder of the year and will continue to be billed monthly.

  • ItemWe appreciate those not enrolled in classes (parents, family members, and friends) waiting in the lobby when classes are in session. Guests can watch the student’s dance class from the main entrance doors. During the last class of the month, guests can observe the last 15 minutes of a class in the class’s studio or via Zoom. Parents/Guardians will receive advance notice when classes are open for viewing. description

  • Irise directors will happily discuss with you what the best option would be for you and your child . We understand that every child is unique and we prioritize accommodating their strengths, needs, and goals to ensure their experience with us is positive. Please contact us directly if your child is unsure about which class they should register for.

  • Irise Dance Project maintains a welcoming environment and a safe space for young people to feel supported. We allow for students to be in the space Monday through Friday from 4-8pm regardless of whether or not they are taking class. We encourage students to socialize, do homework, ask for support, or watch classes during this time. A parent must notify Irise that their child will be coming to the studio and when.

  • Students should come dressed in their proper dance attire. They should bring a water bottle and a light snack if they will be at the studio for several hours.

  • Students enrolled in our Summer Program need to wear comfortable clothing. They will receive a t-shirt that is to be worn every day of the program and will be kept in their cubby.

They need to bring a snack and a water bottle each day.

  • Irise Dance Project films and takes photos for promotional purposes throughout the year. By signing your child up for classes, you grant Irise Dance Project and its representatives and employees the right to film and take photographs of you, your child, and/or your property in connection with these efforts. You authorize Irise Dance Project, its assignees, and transferees to copyright, use, and publish the same in print and/or electronically. You also agree that Irise Dance Project may use such video footage and photographs of you and/or your child with or without your name and for any lawful purpose, including, for example, publicity, illustration, advertising, and web content. Contact us directly if you do not want your child’s photo and video to be used.

  • Youth Company members receive invites directly from the director. There is no cost to be a member but the student must take a minimum of 3 classes per week and able to participate in weekly rehearsals held every Monday from 6:00-8:00.
