“Nothing motivates me. I don't have the desire to do anything. However, the case worker was head strong about me starting something, so dance it is. What freshman me didn't know was how much walking into that dance studio would change me. Today, I step on to the vinyl floor, a wave of confidence overcoming me as I practice to perfect a difficult move. The outside world’s stressors leaving as the counts, beats, and voices of the song fill their places in my head and bones. I feel at peace with myself. My body finally feels free. My limbs feel like they're passing through clouds as they swoosh the air around them. Dance is what got me out of my dark space. It's my catalyst. When I need motivation, something to reignite my passion, I turn to dance and when I'm done I'm alive with the drive to tackle anything.”
